Added on by Kate Sims.

A fantastic well done to our hockey team who played against the other schools in our cluster in a tournament on Thursday 13.01.22. The team: Will, Erika, Jack L, Charlotte, Charlie, Flo, Ella, Bella, Bo and Poppy only conceded two goals in 4 matches and scored 7 of their own, winning 3 matches and drawing 1. They have earned a place at the next level of competition - the Wiltshire School Games County Hockey Finals.

Many thanks to the parents who transported the team to the event and cheered them on, along with several Neston pupils who wanted to support as well!

Severe Weather - School Closure Procedures 2021

Added on by School Administrator.

Dear Parents and Carers

Severe Weather Procedures

We are writing to remind you of the procedures in the event of snowy weather conditions.

Please listen to HEART Radio or Wiltshire Radio who will start announcing school closures from 6.45am.  You can also go on the HEART FM website and click on NEWS and then SCHOOL CLOSURES https://www.heart.co.uk/news/school-closures/ and they give a very comprehensive list of Wiltshire School Closures.

You could also check the “Our News” page on our school website http://nestonprimary.co.uk/journal for information.  Please do not rely on social media for an accurate update.

Please be assured that whilst every effort will be made to keep the school open, the safety of students and staff is of paramount importance during extreme weather conditions.  Also, the majority of our teachers live in surrounding towns and may experience difficulties on minor roads. We will ensure you receive information as quickly as possible; you will also receive a text if the school is closed.

If you do not receive a text this is due to your mobile telephone numbers not being up-to-date on our school records.

Kind Regards

Neston Netball Team win Fair Play trophy!

Added on by Kate Sims.

A super well done to our netball team: Flo, Fayven, Holly C, Alice, Daniel, Harry, Izzie B, Bella C, Edie and Alfie, who attended a training session with Mrs Long and 2 Corsham School Young Leaders on the 11th and who participated in a cluster competition on the 18th. They played 4 matches - drawing 2 and losing 2. Commendations to Holly C for using her netball experience to support the captains Flo and Fayven and to Daniel for being Mrs Eggleton’s Player of the Match for his sportspersonship, which must indeed have been exceptional to stand out amongst the super attitudes of the rest of the team, who all shone enough to be awarded the Fair Play trophy!

Many, many thanks to the parents who transported the team without a word of complaint, despite the last minute changes in timings for both events! Also thank you to Mrs Eggleton and her daughter Kate, ex-Neston pupil, for accompanying the team to the tournament and supporting them all the way!

Our top scorers were: Finn, 2nd and Rowan, 7th in the Y5/6 boys race; Holly S 11th and Bella P 13th in the Y5/6 girls race; Mia 10th and Esmee 15th in the Y3/4 girls race and Alex H 3rd and Kaleb 1st (wow!!!) in the Y3/4 boys race.

From 16 August, if you are fully vaccinated you will not be required to self-isolate if you are a contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19

Fearless and Focused Neston Football Team Win Close Fought Tournament!!!

Added on by Kate Sims.

A fantastic well done to our football team: Alfie, Olivia, Erika and Charlotte of Maple Class and Max, Harry, Fin, Jack G and co-captains, Jack L and Charlie of Beech Class! They played 6 matches against the other schools in our cluster winning 4 and drawing 2. They worked brilliantly as a team, led ably by their captains, and demonstrated resilience and determination as the rain poured down and they faced increasingly challenging teams, who really tested their stamina. I was very proud of all of the team, each and every one who gave their all!

Many thanks to their loyal parent supporters, who not only transported them to the event but who also braved the inclement weather for two and a half long hours.

Golf festival kicks off cluster event timetable!

Added on by Kate Sims.

A very well done to Oscar, Harry and Evie from Chestnut and to Jack L, Frank, Toby and Amber M of Beech for representing Neston School at the first sport cluster event of the year - a golf taster session led by Chippenham Golf Club. They learned how to use a putter and aimed for targets. They also used a wedge club to chip the ball into a hole. Everyone had a great time!

Many thanks to Mrs Monelle for accompanying our golfers to the event and to the parents for transporting and supporting!

Y6 cricket team win cup at cluster event!

Added on by Kate Sims.

Congratulations to Frankie, Georgie, Freya, Archie, Emily, Harry, Jocelyn, Ollie, Elsie and Seb who competed against Colerne and Regis at Corsham Cricket Ground on Thursday and came away with the cup! Mrs Monelle, who accompanied the team to the event, said they all played magnificently as a team and benefited from competing against other teams. She could see an improvement in their play from the outset of the tournament to the end! Thank you to Mrs Monelle for being there and to all of the parents who provided transport and support!

Y4 Quadkids are first team to compete at an inter-school competition in 2021!

Added on by Kate Sims.

A big well done to Eva, Lauren, Edie, Bella, Bonnie, Alfie, Jack G, Fraser, Archie and Rowan, who represented Neston School at a Quadkids (athletics) event at Biddestone Sports Ground last Thursday. They ran a 50m sprint, did a standing long jump and a ‘javelin’ (vortex ball) throw, ran a 400m and did a team relay race too! They were competing against 7 other schools - 80 children in total! Our top point scorer was Jack G who came 15th overall! Fraser was 18th, which is also very impressive. Our top girl was Eva, who was the 6th top scoring girl and 35th overall while Bella and Bonnie tied as 11th in the girls and 46th overall! The children all tried their best at all events and were very supportive of our two athletes who were carrying injuries.

School Games Day a great success despite changeable weather!

Added on by Kate Sims.

Well done to all of the staff, children and Mr John Andrews for a great return to our annual School Games Day! With the exception of (sadly) no spectators, the day progressed as usual with Willow, Oak and Silver Birch participating in their events in the morning and Hazel, Chestnut, Maple and Beech doing theirs in the afternoon. All of Beech Class, whether they were part of the School Games Crew or not, took on roles to support the adults in charge and they were soundly commended by all of the staff. Mr Andrews took the time, as he does every year, to come and quality control Mrs Evans’ scoring. The final results have yet to be tabulated because the final two events: KS2 egg and spoon and tug of war still need to take place (date tbc). We will also include the points gained by the KS2 children in their 600m run which took place on a very wet and windy afternoon the week before School Games Day. The top finishers in the Upper KS2 race and the Lower KS2 race are attached. It’s interesting to see how many siblings made it into the top 20!

Remote Learning Update 8.1.2021

Added on by School Administrator.

Dear Parents and Carers

On Monday 11th January, we will be re-launching Neston School’s remote learning programme.

We’ve made some updates and improvements that we think everyone will enjoy and benefit from. We will continue to teach and feedback using the Seesaw platform but we will also soon be offering our remote learners daily opportunities to interact live with their teachers and classmates in school.

Each of our remote learning days is going to reflect a regular school day.

As soon as we get Microsoft Teams up and running, we’ll start with a live registration, which will include our remote learners at home and our face-to-face learners at school.

The day’s learning will be structured to follow the usual class timetable (specific information about your child/ren's class timetables will be posted on Seesaw) so the provision is the same for our remote learners and our face-to-face pupils. We encourage all of our remote learners to do their Seesaw learning assignments in the same order as their face-to-face classmates are doing in school. Teachers will be building in opportunities to look at the learning posted by remote learners throughout the day and feeding back where necessary. They will stop feeding back at 5.00pm when they will take the opportunity to adjust their plans for the next day based on the day’s learning output.

At 2.00pm every afternoon, our remote-learners will again be able to check in with their teachers via Microsoft Teams (when operational) for some group feedback, consolidation or sharing of learning.

Now that we have all had a practise run at remote learning during the first lockdown, we are looking forward to seeing all of our pupils fully accessing the curriculum and making progress with their age-related learning.

If for some technical reason, your child/ren is unable to access the learning for the day, please contact the school at admin@neston.wilts.sch.uk

We are all looking forward to next week! There will be some teething issues from all sides but we know that everyone will be trying their best and it won’t be long until everyone settles into the new routine.

Have a lovely weekend

Dear parents/carers,

We were hoping to commence our 'live' TEAMS registration sessions from Monday 11th January, however due to some technical issues we are going to delay this process in order to ensure we can roll this out successfully.

All remote activities on Seesaw & Tapestry will commence as planned from Monday, except for TEAMS at this stage. We will update you as soon as we have with further details.

Information Regarding Remote Learning - 6.1.2021

Added on by School Administrator.

Dear Parents / Carers

Remote learning will begin from Jan 11th 2021 in order to allow teachers time to prepare and adapt planning. In the meantime, children are very welcome to read, engage in Spelling Shed, Teach Your Monster to Read, and TT Rockstars. These are all great activities which promote the learning of essential skills.  Perhaps they could set up a little workstation so they are ready for action!
