September Reception Intake

In order to ensure a smooth transition from playgroup to school , we liaise with local playgroups and meet the children in their known environment. During the summer term, parents of prospective reception children are invited to an induction meeting where parents will be informed of the induction programme.  At the induction meeting, home visit dates will be made to take place throughout the summer term. The children will be invited to the induction morning at school, which takes place during July. Parents will be asked to complete an information sheet about their view of their child.

When the new term begins, in order to make the transition as happy as possible, children's attendance is phased in over both morning and afternoon sessions. After this induction period the children will stay all day. It is recognised that some children may need a little longer to settle and appropriate arrangements can be made according to the child.
