Oak Class have been using fantastic mathematical vocabulary to guess the number their partner is thinking of. We used 'tens', 'ones', 'digit', 'more than' 'less than' and 'between' in our guesses to embed the learning we have been doing in class. A great game to play at home.
We shared a lovely paired reading session between Oak and Beech this morning. We can't wait for next Thursday!
We are busy learning about writing instructions and our next challenge is trapping those cheeky dragons that have been visiting at night. Oak Class have some fantastic ideas including rickety castles and enormous holes! Here are some pictures of us developing our ideas.
...and then he comes round the corner and ...
A special knot so he can't escape!
He'll never escape!
Ahoy there! What an incredible first week back for The Mighty Oak Class. We have been busy creating some truly magnificent pirate themed stories but be warned, they are only suitable for the most sea worthy adventurers! Aarrr!
Oak class are so busy learning that we always have lots to share. This term our Show and Tell sessions will be organised by our class groups, giving us all more chances to share and celebrate our achievements and interests with each other.
Willow, Oak and Chestnut classes each have a butterfly garden in our classrooms. This is becoming a lovely summer tradition and fits really well with our theme of survival. We received the baby caterpillars just over a fortnight ago and have been tracking their growth. The first two have come out of their chrysalides within the last 24 hours and both are in Chestnut!
This morning the whole school, as well parents of Oak Class, were treated to a fantastic class assembly. In the words of Mrs Evans it was 'awesome' and we watched performances of songs, Kung Fu punctuation and video animations of plasticine minibeast models filmed using the iPads.
I have taken photos of the stars - head over to Oak's class page to see the gallery of owls, pussycats and one happy zebra. Can you work out who they all are?
Mr Howe
Our stop-frame animation skills are coming on a treat! You can see the results of our hard work in our class assembly next Wednesday (20th May).

Carol Dweck researches “growth mindset” — the idea that we can grow our brain's capacity to learn and to solve problems. In this talk, she describes two ways to think about a problem that’s slightly too hard for you to solve. Are you not smart enough to solve it … or have you just not solved it yet? A great introduction to this influential field.'
