Willow Class Wish List
Could you help us out with any of these things to make our outdoor learning area even better?

Designers and Engineers
In Willow, we have been using small Lego to make vehicles. We are drawing our models and making notes so that we can make the model again. Perhaps we will be able to design our models before we make them next time!
Can you beat the timer?
We worked to see how many nuts and bolts together in 30 seconds.
Rain doesn't stop play!
Splashing and cycling through the large puddles.
Enjoying the rain!
Splashing in puddles!
Collecting water from the stream.
Building continues even in the rain!
Willow Invents
What will we make in our new garage?
Story Making
These girls are making their own version of The Little Red Hen. They are changing the characters on a story map. There is even an octopus in one of the stories now!
Sharing
We are learning about halves this week. These children are sharing glass beads between 2. Mrs. Phillips looks like she is working at a casino!
Teddy Bears Picnic
We shared the food equally between the two bears to make things fair.
Weighing our Chicks
The yellow chick weighs the same as 21 of our tiny marbles. We think we will need more marbles next week.

Carol Dweck - Growth Mindset TED talk
Follow this link to Carol Dweck's talk on Growth Mindset, filmed in November 2014
Carol Dweck researches “growth mindset” — the idea that we can grow our brain's capacity to learn and to solve problems. In this talk, she describes two ways to think about a problem that’s slightly too hard for you to solve. Are you not smart enough to solve it … or have you just not solved it yet? A great introduction to this influential field.'
The above link will take you to an external site - TED a non-profit organisation, committed to 'Ideas Worth Sharing' in short-talk form

Request for DIY rainforest containers in Chestnut class
In Chestnut class we will be making our own mini rainforest and we need big, clear (preferably plastic though glass jars will be fine) containers with lids. We will be filling them will soil and plants so the necks need to be wide. We would like to make one each and there are 23 children so if you could help us out, we would be very grateful. We will need them the week beginning 12th May. Thank you, Mr Howe
