A super well done to the Neston Tag Rugby team (Chloe, Leo, Theo, Harriet, Max, Charlotte, Reegan, Molly, Olivia and Izzy) who played in 5 fast-paced matches at a cluster festival last week! Our top try scorer was Leo with 11 tries across all five matches! His co-captain Chloe also did us proud, leading the warm up session, supporting the less-experienced players and by being a very safe pair of hands to pass to. Some of our new-to-rugby players had impressive pace and got us many tags. The entire team worked brilliantly together and won their first two matches by 2 or 3 tries. Both of the matches that they lost was only by 1 try each - very close, exciting contests!

Neston Hockey Team Compete in Play offs for the County event
It wasn’t our day but the team did really well to have made it to this level having won our cluster tournament. They competed in 5 gruelling matches at Devizes School and gained a lot of experience in the process. Many thanks to Mrs New, mum of one of our captains, for accompanying the team to the event. A big shout out also to Mrs Van Dongen, for providing the GK kit and coaching advice, and to Mrs Frost, for dropping everything to help transport members of the team. You can see why our Neston children are so helpful and supportive with these kinds of examples!

Well done to Violet and Kathryn for ably captaining a mixture of experienced and novice footballers at an all-girls competition at Stanley Park on 27.02.19. The girls played 5 matches – drawing 3, losing 1 and winning 1. Many thanks to Mrs Eggleton for accompanying them to the competition and reporting back about the resilience of the players. She also provided this great photo!
Neston swimmers compete at cluster gala
Well done to the Neston Swim team for some super swimming in the recent gala. We had a range of swimmers - some with lots of race experience as well as others for whom this event was their first formal swim competition. All of the team supported each other to do their very best and there were many great performances. Many thanks to the parents who came to watch and Ms Sims is sorry to have disappointed you by not allowing herself to be pulled into the pool when attempting to pull Max out!
Neston hockey team win the cluster tournament!
Congratulations to our hockey team who played and won seven matches in the festival at Corsham School on 24.01.19. They have made it through the county play offs sometime in March. Neston footballers shine at tournament in new kit from Primary Stars!
Well done to all of our keen footballers who took part in a cluster tournament at Corsham School on 15.11.18! We had a Neston squad of 10 players and four more children who volunteered to play for Lypiatt School because they were short on numbers. Co captains William and James P did a super job of organising their team. Many thanks to Annett Eggleton who accompanied the players to the event!
Neston pupils compete in Prior Park Biathlon at Bath University for the first time
Five of the strongest swimmers and runners in Maple Class were delighted to compete against many other schools in the Bath area on 5.10.18. The new Pentathlon World Champ Jamie Cooke and World Team Silver medal winner Joe Choong were amongst the helpers at the University of Bath, where the event took place. Each of our U10 and U11 athletes had to run 800m on the track and swim 50m in the pool. They weren’t daunted by the strong competition and everyone gave a good performance. Darcey and Billy’s performances qualified them for the British Championships!
16 resilient Neston School runners compete at the 2nd Mid Wilts Primary Schools’ Cross Country Event
Many thanks to Mrs Eggleton and Kate for supervising our Y3/4 boys and girls and our Y5/6 boys and girls teams at Biddestone Sport Ground on the afternoon of 2.10.18. The junior teams ran 1.2km and the senior teams ran 1.6. Everyone tried their hardest and was a credit to Neston School. The stand out runners were: Holly who placed 8th in the Y3/4 girls race; Seb, who placed 7th in the year 3/4 boys race; Cerys who placed 7th in the Y5/6 girls race and, fastest of all, Olivia who placed 4th in the Y3/4 girls race!
Neston Netball team kicks off the School Games year!
Well done to the netball team who played a total of 5 matches against other schools in our cluster on 20.09.18 and 27.09.18. All of the games were very exciting - they won 3, drew one and lost one. Top goal scorer was James though … also scored crucial goals. All of the team tried out different positions and all of them gained in skill and knowledge from the experience. Cerys and Emily were super first time captains.
Neston Rugby Team Triumph at Tournament!
A huge congratulations to the Neston Rugby Team (Tom, Sam, Ned, Emily, Maddy, Oscar, George, Lauren and Ellie) who have won the Level 2 cluster tournament! Sadly, because the event was postponed from March, we've missed the opportunity to compete in the Level 3 competition. Also, well done to Seth, Ed, Lenny and Daniel who came along to gain competition experience for next year's event by playing for Lypiatt School, who didn't have enough pupils to field a full team.
Thank you to all parent supporters and to Mark Dellar for this great photo!
New team names inaugurated at 2018 School Games Day!
Well done to all of the Neston School community - children, staff and parents - for another wonderful School Games Day. Despite the damp weather, the Key Stage 1 children started the event off in style with lots of joy and excitement. The rain held off for Key Stage 2 and again, the level of effort and participation was high. Almost everyone remembered to use our new team names: Ursa (green), Delphinus (blue), Aquila (yellow) and Phoenix (red). A very big thank you to Mr John Andrews, our PE governor for spending the whole day to score for us. Also thank you to Mr Mortimer for coming to support and keeping Mr Andrews company for awhile! Thank you also to all the parents who came along to support and those who helped with giving out places and to Bailey's mum for lending Ebony and Evie her megaphone. Thank you to FONS for providing us all with much needed refreshments! Finally, a HUGE thank you to all of the Y6 members of the School Games Crew who were fully involved in the organising and running the whole day!!!

Well done to our wonderful cricket team: Ben, Loz, Elz, James F, Ned, Daniel, Tom, Maddy, Emily and Eddie for qualifying for the Level 3 event at Trowbridge on June 28.06.18! They all played brilliantly and showed great team spirit under their two skilled captains - Ben, who is an inspiration with his constructive support throughout and Lauren, whose organisational abilities are top notch! Many thanks to the parents who came to support and stayed even when the heavens opened up!
Neston Lacrosse team come 2nd after nail biting final against Colerne School
Well done to Milo, Tilly, Ned, Lenny, William, James, Maddy, Tom and Lauren who played 5 exciting matches against other schools in our cluster on Thursday. We won our first 3 matches, drew our 4th and were 2 goals up against Colerne for the first half of our final match. In the end we were beaten by 1 goal but we fought hard and enjoyed the battle! Special mention to 'Loz', who scored a hat trick of hat tricks over 3 matches!!! Milo was our 2nd top goal scorer. Everyone played their best whether they were attacking or defending!
Neston Y4 cricket team win fair play cup at tournament!
A very well done to our Year 4 cricket team who showed considerable team spirit and 'sportpersonship' when they played a series of matches against other schools in our cluster last week! A big thank you to Mrs Eggleton for accompanying the team and being their most loyal supporter!
Neston Aquathon Team comes first!
Congratulations to Tom, Thomas, Willow and Maddy who took part in an aquathon (swim and run) at Springfield Campus just before half term. They were competing against athletes from other schools in our cluster and were very proud to come first! They are great examples of the benefits of an active lifestyle!
Hot off the Press - Neston Hockey Team qualifies for play offs
Well done to the Neston Hockey team (Emily, Ciara, Lauren, Lenny, Maddy, George D, Eddie, Seth, Izzy and Alyssa) who came second in our cluster festival (losing out to Colerne only on goal difference) and who have made it through to the play offs for the county event. Our top goal scorer was Lauren, with Emily and Lenny also sending the ball to the back of the net! All of the players improved their skills during the matches, particularly with making themselves available when we were attacking and marking the opposition when we were defending. Good luck for the 2nd of March at Devizes School.
Red Team wins KS2 football tournament while Green Team gets the fair play award!
On the last Thursday of term, everyone from Year 3 up to Year 6 played in 8 a-side matches for their sports team (Red, Yellow, Blue and Green). It was wonderful to see our experienced footballers, who play for local clubs, supporting our players who are less experienced at playing football competitively. Last year, Blue Team won the cup but this year some excellent team work (lots of passing and communicating) took Red Team to the top in our 2017 intra-KS2 tournament - Go Reds! There was a lot of fair play in evidence from all the teams (well done everyone) but the team that shone the brightest in this respect was the Green Team! Many thanks to our School Games Crew for organising this exciting event and to the adults who helped out too despite many being under the weather.
Neston Swim Team Comes 2nd in Gala!
A big well done to Lauren, Lenny, Ned, Tilly, Willow, Ben, Milo and Maddy, who put all of their swim practise into play last week as they gained 2nd place in a cluster swimming gala. The parents who were able to go along and support said that they did Neston proud! A special thank you to Annett Eggleton, who ably accompanied the team!
Our Gold Winning Junior Girls Cross Country Team!
Neston Junior Girls Cross Country Team Win Gold at Inaugural Mid-Wilts Event
On Tuesday 3.10.17, sixteen of our fastest runners competed against 7 other schools at Biddestone Sports Ground and did Neston proud. All the competitors put in their best effort and were all good sports - supporting their own teams as well as others. Stand out individual performances included Izzy Richards, who showed that running regularly pays off with an impressive 3rd place; Finn Charlton, who earned everyone's respect by coming in 5th despite an unlucky start and coming from the very back and Darcey, Molly, Charlotte and Tim who were all in the top ten of their races. Congratulations to all of our runners, including the junior girls: Darcey (5th), Molly (6th), Charlotte (8th) and Chloe (16th), who won team gold in their age group. We hope that everyone's inspired to get running!
