Well done to Captains Isla and Theo and their Y6 team of Keira, Chloe D, Molly, Max, Reegan and Leo for coming second in a Level 2 competition at the Dome in Chippenham! One of the highlights of the afternoon was getting to hold the actual (silver and gold and very heavy) Cricket World Cup Trophy!!! Many thanks to Mrs Graham for accompanying the team and, as always, to the parents who took the time to help transport the team - without you, these events wouldn’t be possible!
More School Games Participation - this time, Orienteering!
Well done to Charlotte, Theo, Sophie and Reegan, who made up our orienteering team for 2019. Led by Ken Stimson of North Wiltshire Orienteers, they raced against teams from other schools in a course all around the grounds of Corsham School and then did a relay event using the latest electronic equipment.
Team have a mathtastic time at Primary Challenge!
Well done to Lara, Billy, Oscar, Jemima, Jocelyn and Oliver who spent this morning at Corsham School competing in a number of maths rounds against numerous other primary schools from the local area. Our team was supported (and inspired) by Lily Overton, a Corsham School A-level student and Neston alumni. It was wonderful to see her and her fellow ex-Neston students, James Redman, Henry Phillips, Ben Ward and Tom Tanner, who are all excelling in maths and sciences. Hopefully our Y5/6 Maths Challenge Team will follow in their footsteps, as they came second out of 16 teams!
Super start to the School Games year!!!
Congratulations to the Y5/6 Neston football team who played in a series of matches against the other schools in our cluster and won the whole competition. Well done to their co captains Max and Charlotte who organised the team from tactics to kit! Many thanks to the indispensable Mrs Eggleton for accompanying the team to the event and to the parents who helped with lifts and cheered everyone on.
School Games Gold Mark Award
We are delighted to announce that we have achieved the School Games Gold Mark Award for the 2018/19 academic year.
The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
Our sporting achievements this year include:
engaging more than 50% of our pupils in extracurricular sporting and physical activity every week
having targeted provision for the less active young people in our school
providing all of our young people with the opportunity to learn to lead through curriculum PE
having a School Sport Organising Crew in place that leads, manages and officiates in School Games activity
We are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.
As part of our application, we were asked to fulfill criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.
A special thanks to:

A super well done to our A and B tennis teams who played 5 or 6 matches each against other schools in our cluster at Biddestone Tennis Club last week. The School Games Crew pull off another successful school competition!
A big thank you to all of the School Games Crew for helping to organise and to lead our intra-KS2 tag rugby competition. There were junior and senior team captains and lines people. We also had experienced players from Maple Class supporting Chestnut Class in a practise session. Rugby Team take home fair play trophy from cluster tournament
A super well done to the Neston Tag Rugby team (Chloe, Leo, Theo, Harriet, Max, Charlotte, Reegan, Molly, Olivia and Izzy) who played in 5 fast-paced matches at a cluster festival last week! Our top try scorer was Leo with 11 tries across all five matches! His co-captain Chloe also did us proud, leading the warm up session, supporting the less-experienced players and by being a very safe pair of hands to pass to. Some of our new-to-rugby players had impressive pace and got us many tags. The entire team worked brilliantly together and won their first two matches by 2 or 3 tries. Both of the matches that they lost was only by 1 try each - very close, exciting contests!

Neston Hockey Team Compete in Play offs for the County event
It wasn’t our day but the team did really well to have made it to this level having won our cluster tournament. They competed in 5 gruelling matches at Devizes School and gained a lot of experience in the process. Many thanks to Mrs New, mum of one of our captains, for accompanying the team to the event. A big shout out also to Mrs Van Dongen, for providing the GK kit and coaching advice, and to Mrs Frost, for dropping everything to help transport members of the team. You can see why our Neston children are so helpful and supportive with these kinds of examples!

Girls Football Team does Neston Proud!
Well done to Violet and Kathryn for ably captaining a mixture of experienced and novice footballers at an all-girls competition at Stanley Park on 27.02.19. The girls played 5 matches – drawing 3, losing 1 and winning 1. Many thanks to Mrs Eggleton for accompanying them to the competition and reporting back about the resilience of the players. She also provided this great photo!
