Parent Workshop

Added on by Pam Evans.

Following on from the success of our last workshop run by Linda Mallory Education Psychologist, we managed to secure 6 more dates.  We hope you find it helpful.  You can drop in to any session you feel might be useful and don't have to attend all six.

Healthy and Happy children parent cafe

Do you want the best for your child?

Would you like the opportunity to share your thoughts about parenting with a group of like minded supportive parents?

Do you want more information to make more informed choices about what to say and do with your child?

When I listen to parents as a psychologist and a parent coach, there are common themes that consistently come up in discussion. Common challenges that parents raise are:

* Making the most of the time with our children and giving each child the time they need

* Developing the self esteem of our children

* Getting our children to listen to us

* Helping our children with their social relationships

* Feeling guilty, confused and overwhelmed

Give yourself permission to take some time out to reflect on parenting with a fabulous group of parents.

Please feel free to drop in for Tea and Coffee and meet up with other parents in a friendly supportive environment. The session will be facilitated by myself Dr Linda Mallory an Educational Psychologist, parent coach and mother of two boys.

Here are some topics which parents from the school felt it was useful to explore.

Topics

13.11.13      How to balance independence and control.

20.11.13      How to deal with anger and other big emotions.

27.11.13      How to manage confidence and self esteem.

4.12.13        How to handle transition and change.

11.12.13      How to help develop friendships.

18.12.13     How to help listening.

The sessions are 2-3 pm each Wednesday before pick up.

If there is another topic that you would like to be covered then please let me know.

Each session will spend some time on the topic of the week and then some opportunities to informally chat about ideas and parenting strategies, which arise from the discussion.

This is an opportunity to meet up with a supportive group of parents and discuss thoughts and issues around the joys and challenges of family life. I am really looking forward to sharing your parenting journey.

Warm wishes

Dr Linda Mallory

Can you feel the love tonight?

Neston put Elton John through his paces today...

Feel like a little home practise?

Can you feel the love tonight

There's a calm surrender to the rush of day
When the heat of the rolling world can be turned away
An enchanted moment, and it sees me through
It's enough for this restless warrior just to be with you

And can you feel the love tonight
It is where we are
It's enough for this wide-eyed wanderer
That we got this far
And can you feel the love tonight
How it's laid to rest
It's enough to make kings and vagabonds
Believe the very best

There's a time for everyone if they only learn
That the twisting kaleidoscope moves us all in turn
There's a rhyme and reason to the wild outdoors
When the heart of this star-crossed voyager beats in time with yours

Girls Cricket team - winners of festival at Chippenham Dome

Wiltshire-20131022-00174.jpg

Congratulations to Captain Faith and her team for winning the girls only cricket festival on 22nd October 2013.  Thanks to Ms Sims for her tireless sporting efforts and giving our children such a diversity of sports.

Firstly we played Hilmarton School and beat them by 38 runs.

Next we played Sutton Benger and the final score was 37-27 to Neston.  Our third match was against Redlands in the semi finals and again Neston were victorious (41-36).

Having made it to the final, we battled against St.Edmund's and beat them by a mere 9 runs!

Congrats to Holly for her mighty 6's; to Emma for her spectacular catches; Faith for her consistent batting; to Clemmie for being the only player to bowl someone out; to Emily for her 3's just at the right moment; to Leona for her solid fielding skills and to Maddy for her accurate bowling and batting.

Parent Workshop

Added on by Pam Evans.

What is it like to be a parent?  Most of us might say that it is rewarding, exciting, best job in the world and at the same time it can be a real challenge.  I speak from experience!

At Neston, we are committed to giving our children the best possible start in life and are passionate about developing the whole child, inspiring them, ensuring that we celebrate, build on their talents and prepare them for a future that we can only imagine.

We have been working closely with a respected and professional colleague who shares our values and beliefs.  We are delighted to announce that Linda Mallory our Educational Psychologist will be running a workshop on Healthy, Happy and Successful Children. Read what Linda has to say and decide if you would like to join us. The workshop is running on Wednesday 23rd Oct at 2pm in the hall.  Please pop in.

Welcome Back Everybody!

Welcome back to a very exciting new phase in the life of Neston School. It has been a real pleasure to watch how quickly our delightful Willow class have settled in. It was lovely to be invited to a picnic in their classroom where plastic ice creams and coffee served in egg cups were the order of the day.

The building work is finished and the new playground will be completed by the end of next week. Children in Willow and Chestnut are thoroughly enjoying their new classrooms. If you haven’t had a chance to have a look at the new rooms, please feel free to pop down and take a look at the end of school after 3.15 pm. An official opening is at the planning stage; more news to follow!

Once the new playground is ready, Willow class and Chestnut class will be able to enter their classrooms in the morning by walking around the outside of the building, along the playground to their cloakroom entrances where their teachers will be ready to greet them. I will send a text so that parents are aware when the new route is ready.

Our year 6 children have had a fabulous time at Liddington on their residential trip. Raft building, zip wire and mountain biking are just a few of the exciting activities in which the children have been involved. I have been very impressed with the resourcefulness and the resilience which has been shown by our children, and a big ‘thank you’ goes to all our staff and the governor who have supported the children.

Thank you for your continued support.

Pam Evans
