Welcome to Maple Class - we're the Year 5s and we are fantastic, friendly, fun and fabulous!

How do we learn in Maple class?
By taking risks – we all learn by making mistakes, trying hard and keeping going even when things are challenging. We are reciprocal learners, helping each other and ourselves to move forwards by asking questions and offering clear, thoughtful explanations. Help us foster the “I can’t do it … yet” attitude by celebrating our efforts. 

How can I help my child in Maple Class?         

Read together:  listen to your child read or talk to them about what they have read. Read to your child, read with them, read in front of them, share books or magazines, read recipes or game instructions or directions - anything counts.

Home spellings: Your child will have words  to learn based on our teaching sessions and focus in class. As well as using Spelling Shed, you could write the words out as a pyramid, draw a picture around the word, stick the words on Post-its around the house, try rainbow writing with lots of colours, draw around the word to show the shape – be sure to share any creative ideas. 

Develop confidence in learning: Ask your child what they are really proud of today, what they have tried really hard at and what they have used to help them learn. There is always wonderful learning happening in Maple and the children really shine when asked about their learning.
