Neston Hockey Team Compete in Play offs for the County event

Added on by Kate Sims.

It wasn’t our day but the team did really well to have made it to this level having won our cluster tournament. They competed in 5 gruelling matches at Devizes School and gained a lot of experience in the process. Many thanks to Mrs New, mum of one of our captains, for accompanying the team to the event. A big shout out also to Mrs Van Dongen, for providing the GK kit and coaching advice, and to Mrs Frost, for dropping everything to help transport members of the team. You can see why our Neston children are so helpful and supportive with these kinds of examples!

The girls played 5 matches – drawing 3, losing 1 and winning 1. Many thanks to Mrs Eggleton for accompanying them to the competition and reporting back about the resilience of the players. She also provided this great photo!

Neston swimmers compete at cluster gala

Well done to the Neston Swim team for some super swimming in the recent gala. We had a range of swimmers - some with lots of race experience as well as others for whom this event was their first formal swim competition. All of the team supported each other to do their very best and there were many great performances. Many thanks to the parents who came to watch and Ms Sims is sorry to have disappointed you by not allowing herself to be pulled into the pool when attempting to pull Max out!

World Book Day - Thursday 7th March

Added on by School Administrator.
WBD2019.jpg

Dear Parents and Carers

We shall be celebrating World Book day on Thursday 7th March when children are invited to "dress a potato as their favourite character"!!

We have received some feedback regarding our upcoming World Book Day.

Our initial thoughts were based on past parental feedback regarding the challenges some families face on days like these. The high cost of costumes, or the time required to make them can mean that the experience is not accessible to everyone. Also children with other additional needs can find the whole experience of dressing up quite confusing and uncomfortable.

With this is mind, options are as follows;

1. Come as you are

2. Dress up as your favourite book character

3. Dress a potato as your favourite book character - please click here for further information and inspiration!

We are delighted to be supporting the NSPCC by taking part in their Number Day on Friday 8 February 2019.

On Friday 1 February we will be using fun curriculum-based maths challenges designed by the NSPCC, Oxford University Press and Maths on Toast. To help raise money for the NSPCC, we are asking pupils to collect sponsorship / donations using the sponsor form which will be e-mailed separately. As well as this, we will also be taking part in Dress up for Digits, and pupils will be invited to wear an item of clothing with a number on it (football shirt, cap, netball shirt or even a onesie!). Severe Weather Procedures

Added on by School Administrator.

We are writing to remind you of the procedures in the event of snowy weather conditions.

Please listen to HEART Radio or Wiltshire Radio who will start announcing school closures from 6.45am.  You can also go on the HEART FM website and click on NEWS and then SCHOOL CLOSURES and they give a very comprehensive list of Wiltshire School Closures.

You could also check the “Our News” page on our school website www.neston.wilts.sch.uk for information.  Please do not rely on social media for an accurate update.

Please be assured that whilst every effort will be made to keep the school open, the safety of students and staff is of paramount importance during extreme weather conditions.  Also, the majority of our teachers live in surrounding towns and may experience difficulties on minor roads. We will ensure you receive information as quickly as possible; you will also receive a text if the school is closed

If you do not receive a text this is due to your mobile telephone numbers not being up-to-date on our school records.

Kind Regards

Pam Evans
