Educational Visits & Costs

The school organises a wide range of educational visits throughout the year in the form of day trips to local places of interest, visits connected with topic work, or residential trips to a field study centre. We encourage the children to participate in these visits for both social and educational value.

Past visits include:

  • Lackham Farm (Lambing Live)

  • Weston-Super-Mare

  • Victorian School at Sevington

  • @t Bristol

  • Braeside Education Centre in Devizes (Y3 Residential)

  • National Trust Centre, Stackpole, Pembrokeshire (Y6 Residential)

Under the charging provisions of the Education Reform Act, the school cannot charge parents for the cost of activities which take place wholly or mainly during school hours. Parents are invited to fund these on a voluntary basis in accordance with the 1988 Education Reform Act and Wiltshire County Council's Charging and Remission Policy. A charge for board and lodgings on a residential course can also be made, as can the optional extra activities that take place outside school hours. However funding for such trips is reliant on voluntary contributions. Though no child will be excluded from taking part, if there are insufficient funds, the visit will be unable to go ahead.
