Silver Birch read their fabulous Beatrix Potter style stories to Willow Class this afternoon. We scampered home for chamomile tea after! What an adventure!

Our Aquarium Adventure!

Added on by Andrea Alway.

We have had an amazing time at Bristol Aquarium today finding out about so many different sea creatures. We got to see how long a Giant Squid's tentacle is (clue:it took the whole class to hold it!) and even got to feed turtles. Thank you to out fantastic parent helpers, Mrs Evans and Mrs Walpole for joining us.

Carol Dweck - Growth Mindset TED talk

Added on by Chestnut.

Follow this link to Carol Dweck's talk on Growth Mindset, filmed in November 2014

Carol Dweck researches “growth mindset” — the idea that we can grow our brain's capacity to learn and to solve problems. In this talk, she describes two ways to think about a problem that’s slightly too hard for you to solve. Are you not smart enough to solve it … or have you just not solved it yet? A great introduction to this influential field.'

The above link will take you to an external site - TED a non-profit organisation, committed to 'Ideas Worth Sharing' in short-talk form

Request for DIY rainforest containers in Chestnut class

Added on by Chestnut.

In Chestnut class we will be making our own mini rainforest and we need big, clear (preferably plastic though glass jars will be fine) containers with lids. We will be filling them will soil and plants so the necks need to be wide. We would like to make one each and there are 23 children so if you could help us out, we would be very grateful. We will need them the week beginning 12th May. Thank you, Mr Howe

Travel Survey - please complete and return to school

Added on by School Administrator.

We are updating our Travel Plan, with our aim to reduce car-borne journeys to the school site, promote sustainable modes of transport and make the school site entrance as safe as possible. As part of this work, we would like to find out your views on the school journey. As well as talking to your children about their school journey, and asking them to think about the issues around their transport choices, we will also be consulting staff and governors. Please complete the questionnaire we sent home today and return it to the school office by Friday 13th December 2013. A copy of the questionnaire can be downloaded here.
